On Saturday July 10, members of the First Florida Chapter of
the Military Vehicle Preservation Association, MVPA Vice President Dan Simmons,
guests, and family members took part in a tour of the Camp Gordon Johnston World
War II Museum. Simmons said they had a good turnout as several members also
brought their vehicles. During the tour they learned about the training of a
quarter-million amphibious troops at the camp during the war, took a walk on
the beach, afterwards had lunch. Museum board member Bob Grimes, a member of
the MVPA, hosted the event.
