Burger Night Fridays at Legion return

Posted

Hi Y'all,

I am writing the article on Sept. 27. This day is the Heavenly Birthday of my Mom, Gene Sewell,. For those of you who don't know, she was the first Queen of Lanark Village. This is a very special day to me and my best friend Jane Shafer, as her Mom had the same Heavenly Birthday.

I don't have too much information on the flood in Lanark, except that in order to keep the water from going into homes and outbuildings, the residents in that area had to band together and have the water pumped out. This issue needs to be addressed.

Lanark Village Coffee Time at Chillas Hall will be having special entertainment on Thursday, Sept. 30, by the “Hwy 98 Band.” Let's have a good turnout since this will be their last performance; the band will be disbanding after Thursday. Thanks to them for the times that they have shared their talents.

Support our Lanark Village American Legion Post 82 on Friday, Oct. 1. This will be the first time the Legionnaires will be cooking the wonderful, delicious cheeseburgers and hamburgers, starting at 5 p.m. and until 7 p.m. For a donation of $7, you get a burger like you like it, all the trimmings and chips. All proceeds go to the Legion. The Legion is located at 2316 Oak Street and you may order at the Pavilion, or call 850-697-9998 to order in advance for pick-up, or eat inside in the Legion's Lounge. Come support our Legion, visit with your friends and meet new ones!

The Lanark Village Association will have a meeting on Monday, Oct. 4 at Chillas Hall on Heffernan Drive, starting at 7 p.m. Please make an effort to attend. There is always strength in numbers and your community needs you to help make our area what it can be. If you have concerns or questions concerning your community, come to the meeting.

We Need Help! The St. James-Lanark Fire Department needs volunteers and here is a list of volunteers needed in the Village. Our meetings will be starting up again next month. Around Lanark, the volunteer needs are The Lanark Village Association - treasurer, board members and ways and means; the Boat Club - board members and volunteers for events; and the Golf Club - treasurer, secretary, membership, volunteers for work days on the course and members.

Yard debris will be picked up the first weeks in October. Remember that this is yard debris only, not trash or garbage. The County does Not pick up old furniture, appliances, etc. Also, do not put your yard debris in bags, they want it to be just limbs and twigs, etc.
