Elder Care Community Council of Franklin County (ECCC) has provided almost 10,650 lunches in 2021 out of the Holy Family Senior Center in Apalachicola.
ECCC is asking for support now more than ever to sustain this important work of assuring those nutritious meals are available to those in need in our county. The meals are prepared in the kitchen at Holy Family and available for pick up and volunteers deliver to the homebound on our list.
ECCC’s big fundraiser of the year is coming up on Saturday, August 7, with the St. George Island Sizzler 5K Race and One Mile Fun Run. Last year the event was cancelled due to COVID-19. Now is the time to prepare for the race or walk and register on Eventbrite to purchase your tickets.
ECCC is also asking for sponsors. If you would like your name or business name on our race day banner and other marketing, the deadline is Friday, July 23 to make a sponsor commitment. Call (850) 370-0116 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information about how to support elders in the community. ECCC also needs volunteers the day of the event, so let them know if you can help on August 7.
Mark your calendar and join us at Mango Mike’s Sports Bar and Grill. Everyone, of all ages, is invited to come and join the fun and to show your support for ECCC with a sponsorship for the event. Donations can be made at PayPal.me/ecccfranklin.
"I am happy the race has continued because it is such a great asset to the community,” said
Eastpoint veterinarian Dr. Hobson Fulmer, who started the race 24 years ago. “It has been the major fundraiser for the high school cross country program, the humane society and now ECCC. Thousands of runners have participated over the years, raising thousands of dollars for these good causes."
ECCC, a 501(c)(3) community organization, serves to bridge the gaps in services for those over age 55 living in Franklin County. Visit www.ecccfranklin.org or call 850-370-0116 to find out more. If you or someone you know is in need, please let us know.
