To express gratitude for the work of John Solomon, director of the Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce, a reception was held Friday at the Apalachicola Center for History, Culture and the Arts, catered by Bite Me Deli. Solomon, center, was presented with a golden chalice, and a pin reading "Random Guest," while his wife Penny, alongside him, holds a sign reading "National John Day." Solomon thanked the entire team he works with for making success possible.

The Franklin County High School chapter of the National Honor Society gathered nearly 990 pounds, close to half a ton, of peanut butter for the UF/IFAS extenion program's annual Peanut Butter Challenge to help fight hunger. Senior Maddison Whitten, the honor society's service project leader, sits amidst about one-third of the total total peanut butter haul from the school and community.
