Holiday markets beckon Saturday shoppers


Apalachicola and Carrabelle will be welcoming the holiday season Saturday, each with their own holiday markets.

The Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce will be hosting about two dozen vendors on Avenue E, between Water and Market Streets, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the annual Holiday Fresh Market

On the eastern side of the county, the Crooked River Lighthouse is hosting a Holiday Market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lighthouse Park, 1975 Hwy 98 West, just west of Carrabelle.

The Apalachicola market will feature hand-crafted specialties such as baked goods and other gourmet goodies, artwork, crafts, wood carving, pottery, hand-knitted goods and other holiday décor.

At the lighthouse, the blues duo, “Blues Meets Girl,” a collaboration of British blues veteran Mr. Downchild and Texas born singer/songwriter Kasimira. will be performing live music during the market.

The open-air market, at the foot of the lighthouse, also features local vendors, offering gifts and goodies such as art and photography, handcrafted balms and soaps, handmade goods and craft items, coffee with cinnamon rolls and artisan breads, herbs from the Lighthouse’s garden and exotic starter plants.

A vintage flea market has also been added. Vendors, both new and returning, are welcome to bring their much-loved treasures, so long as they are clean and in good condition. The market will feature welcomes an assortment such as home décor, furniture, vintage jewelry, music, antiques, tools, ceramics and kitchenware, books, art, toys, and gently used clothing.

Guests can also visit the museum, browse inside the Lighthouse Gift Shop or climb to the top of the lighthouse for a breathtaking view of the Bay.
