Porch Fest rocks Apalachicola lawns

Posted

The weather and community support blessed Porch Fest on Saturday, as the well-organized follow-up to last year's impromptu  musician response to COVID-19 lockdowns,  proved a huge success.

Beginning in the morning at Lafayette Park at the Oyster City Brewing Company stage, the event featured about two dozen musicians on porches and yards throughout the city.

Featured were JB Babich  playing New Orleans piano; Gill Autry  playing classical; The Sacred Sounds of Donia  playing Tibetan and crystal singing bowls; the Bo Spring Band playing Americana; the Apalachicola Rhythm Section playing rock/jam;  Shaken and Stirred playing vintage folk; Magnolia South playing Americana; Dirty Bird, playing funk, blues and soul; Hot Mess playing swamp pop and zydeco; Matt Law playing blues; Bronwyn Chelette and Chris Matechik, playing bluegrass; Common 'Taters, playing Americana; Flying Fish playing groovy music;  Fried Turkeys playing Americana; and singer/songwriters Rachel Hillman, Betsy Crabb, Dean Newman, Kyle Keller,  David Lloyd,  Tommy Cooper, and Clayton Mathis.

A big beneficiary of the event was the Apalachicola Volunteer Fire Department, who had a food booth at Lafayette Park
