Record field takes on Red Pepper Run


A record number of racers took on the annual 5K Red Pepper Run Saturday morning.

Race organizer Shelley Shepard said 140 runners completed the race, led by first place male Courtland Buntin, 22, who finished with a strong time of 17:32.3.

About a minute behind was Andrew Nix, 16, who ran a 18:59.3 and Joseph Wiedeman, 17, whoi did a 19:16.7.

The first place female was Genee Meleski, 53, who ran the course in 24:47.5.

The top youth male winner was Franklin County High School runner Josiah Friddle, 14, who finished fifth with a time of 20:48.4. The top youth female was Mae McNeill, 12, who finished with a time of 31:25.3.

The top Master female was Mary Stutzman, 73, who ran a 33:57.8. The top Master male was David Miller, 71, who finished in a time of 31:37.6.
