It was rocky for Franklin County at Rocky Bayou Christian Friday night, as the Seahawks sustained a 41-7 loss to the Knights in Niceville.

The game was not as lopsided as it appeared, as the Seahawks spotted the Knights four first quarter touchdowns and then fought them close the rest of the way.

“We started out slow, but once we woke up we played well,” said Coach Dirk Strunk. “We had our most productive night on offense when it comes to yards gained. We just have to learn how to finish drives.”

The Seahawks produced 276 total yards, 182 of them on the ground, led by senior quarterback Evan Stanley’s 151 yards on 14 carries. Sophomore Garyson Millender produced 31 yards on 10 carries.

In the air, Stanley connected on 10 of his 24 passes, for 94 yards and one touchdown. Junior Brayden McCall caught twop of them for 26 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Junior Jayden Rhodes caught 6 passes for 61 yards, and junior Ethan Kembro 2 for 7 yards.

“Our offensive line had their best game of the season,” said Strunk.

The defensive effort, which produced 51 total tackles, including 22 solos, was led by freshman Eric Smith’s 11 tackles, five of them solos. Junior Lonnie O’Neal had 10 tackles, four of them solos. Junior Terry Proctor had nine, four of them solos, Millender seven with three solos and senior Mason Moses six with three solos.

Proctor, Smith and O’Neal each had a sack.

McCall returned four kickoffs for 58 yards, and Kembro one for 13 yards.

Senior Luis Ramirez nailed his extra point try,

“It was nice to be back on the sidelines with my team,” said Strunk. “These young men are working hard, we just need to learn how to finish, and we will.”

Friday night’s home football game against Aucilla Christian was moved to Tuesday, Sept. 27.
