Members’ Art Market

The Joe Center for the Arts’ new show will be opening with a reception this Friday August 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT. This show — The Members Art Market, features work from 35 artists from this area and out of state.

These artists have rented panels and tables to display as much of their work as will fit.  As a consequence The Joe is bursting at the seams with unique and inspiring art.

The reception is free to the public and light refreshments will be provided.

Farmers Market Saturday in Apalachicola

The Farmers Market in Apalachicola will be this Saturday, Aug. 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mill Pond Pavilion at the end of Market Street. The market offers local seafood, produce, honey, homemade breads, pies, and other regional specialties every second and fourth Saturday.

Ice cream social

Join the Apalachicola Riverkeeper and make your Saturday a little sweeter on August 13 at 2 p.m. CDT. Bring your family and friends over to Wewahitchka for some ice cream and music. Learn about our current work, including restoring flow in Douglas Slough, Spiders Cut and East River.

Once work is completed, current estimates are that flow will be doubled or tripled in these sloughs during low water levels. Hear about local slough restoration and conservation projects.

Rio Carrabelle honors artist couple

The Gallery at Rio Carrabelle is presenting a new art exhibition through Saturday, August 13, featuring artist Josefa Benavides and her husband Joe Kotzman. This will be the final chance to see an art exhibition in the area featuring these two talented artists, as they prepare to move to Chicago.

The exhibition will finish with a closing reception, “Celebration: A Farewell Party for Josefa Benavides & Joe Kotzman” on Saturday, August 13 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Rio Carrabelle, with food, drink and music by the Rio Jazz Trio.

Rio Carrabelle Art Gallery is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 102 St. James Avenue (US Hwy 98), Carrabelle.
