Windmark Beach Music Festival

After being postponed last week due to the rain, the first WindMark Beach Music Festival will be kicking off at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 17. This event will take place at different locations in the WindMark Beach Village Center. Attendees will be able to stroll while listening to live music from Mark Owens, Weston T. Hine & The Palmetto’s, Hunter Wall Band, and The Krickets. This event is free and open to the public and will run until 7 p.m. EDT.

Attendees are invited to bring low back chairs or blankets to enjoy the performances.

Salt Air Farmers Market

Shop local farmers and artisans. Let your family enjoy art pieces and the amazing flavors of fresh veggies, sweet Tupelo Honey and vine-ripened fruit. The market is open the first and third Saturdays of the month from  9 a.m. to 1 p.m. EDT in downtown Port St. Joe.

Vegetable Gardening Workshop

UF/IFAS and the Gulf County Master Gardeners will be hosting a fall vegetable gardening workshop at the Corinne Costin Gibson Memorial Public Library on Saturday, September 17 at 10 a.m. EDT. Come learn more about vegetables you can begin growing now and enjoy as part of nutritious meals this winter.

AAHS readies for Saturday’s Heritage Dinner

The Apalachicola Area Historical Society’ is preparing to bring back its annual Heritage Dinner on Saturday, Sept. 17 featuring Dale Cox, a renowned Panhandle historian and author. 

He will be featured speaker at the catered event, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Holy Family Senior Center, 203 Dr. Frederick S. Humphries St, Apalachicola. Brett Gormley will be catering, with net proceeds going to benefit the work of the society.

Tickets are available in person at the Raney House Museum or the Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce office. Tickets are $60 each or two for $100. Discounts are also available for current AAHS members.

Art exhibition opens in Carrabelle

The Gallery at Rio Carrabelle has opened an art exhibition featuring the art of Roger Leonard, primarily marine landscapes. It will run through February. 

Leonard graduated from Ringling School of Art in Sarasota in 1974 and has wonnumerous awards. He worked in commercial art for over 20 years and then turned to fine art. He lived and worked in a studio/home on Dog Island for 15 years, and now divides his time between there and his home and studio on River Road in Carrabelle. 

Crooked River Lighthouse hosts market Saturday

The Crooked River Lighthouse continues to host their Country Farmers Market every first and third Saturday. The next market will be Saturday, Sept. 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1975 Hwy 98 West, at the foot of Carrabelle’s lighthouse. 

This open air market will feature vendors from the community with gifts and goodies like fresh roasted coffee, baked goods, art and photography, handcrafted balms and soaps, handmade goods and craft items, exotic starter plants, and fresh herbs and veggies from the Lighthouse’s own garden.

Guests can also visit the free museum, browse inside the gift shop for or climb to the top of the lighthouse for a breathtaking view of the bay.
